Any one travelling to Australia for study will need to get a student visa.
As a student visa holder, there are conditions that you must abide by, failure to comply with your student visa conditions could result in your visa being cancelled, being asked to leave Australia and even being slapped with a 3 year re-entry ban.
You must remain in a registered course, a course you take must be on the commonwealth register of institutes and courses for overseas students. The registered course that you are enrolled in must be at the level for which your visa was granted.
Some students have been known to ‘course-hop’, students will join a course at a higher education level with a university provider to enter into Australian under the Streamline Visa Processing (SVP) arrangement and once they arrive in Australia they switch to another course at a lower level with a cheaper provider. Course-hopping has resulted in visa cancellations, if you wish to change courses you must also change your student visa subclass to ensure you are studying at the right level.
You must also maintain satisfactory attendance and progress in you course for each study period, the standards will be outlined by your education provider.
You must also have financial stability through out your stay to ensure you can pay your course fees and maintain your general welfare while in Australia, also maintaining your health insurance plan.
A student visa also requires that you work no more than 20 hours per week.
