At Explore English, technology in the Classroom is something we take pride in. Our Classrooms are all affixed with huge wall mounted Widescreen Computers that are loaded with course materials, as well as being able to be used for displaying lessons, web pages and playing audio and video content.
This week, students had fun playing computer-based “gamified” language learning programs. One popular game is an online resource called Lyrics Training, which allows students to watch popular music videos with the lyrics appearing as subtitles and options to play a gap fill at different difficulty levels (Elementary to Expert) or have a sing-along karaoke.
They also had a terrific session of learning to play the iPad App, Ruzzle, during our weekly free electives, which is a scrambled letter word making game that students can play either by themselves or with others – even people in other countries! You can easily connect to the App with Facebook and challenge friends to a contest. Another favourite of the students is the Words with Friends App – teachers love this one too – which is also able to be easily connected to Facebook and can be played on most devices.
The campus has wifi and sets of iPads, Laptops and Desktops for students to use, or they just bring their own devices, so every day offers a new opportunity to discover great ways to Explore English!
