So you’ve succeeded at Explore English: completed our most advanced courses and gotten the PTE or IELTS score of your dreams. Well, what’s next? If you want to stay in Melbourne, you’ll need to extend your student visa or find work. Without some proper qualifications and training, however, you may find it difficult to find some better jobs, and that’s where the VET Courses at MCIE come in.
The Melbourne City Institute of Education (or MCIE, for short) provides several course options for graduates of Explore English and other international students—six, to be exact: Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in New Small Business, Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care, Diploma of Hospitality, and a Diploma of Leadership & Management. All of these courses meet the requirements of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), are recognized across Australia and, often times, abroad as well. Each course is led by skilled instructors with strong practical knowledge, all in the heart of beautiful Melbourne.
For Commercial Cookery, the Cert III qualifies you as a cook in a wide variety of establishments, while the Cert IV qualifies you for a kitchen leadership role in addition to food preparation. The Cert IV in Business will provide you the knowledge necessary to run a small business. The Diploma courses take more time, but leave you with much stronger qualifications. The Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care will enable you to design and implement curriculums geared for toddlers and pre-school children; the Diploma of Hospitality will give you the skills to manage hospitality functions, along with chef qualifications. Finally, the Diploma of Leadership & Management reflects the role of an individual across a range of high-ranking positions in enterprise and industry contexts.
The next intake for these courses is October 3rd, 2016, so please visit our website at http://www.mcie.edu.au/international-students/ for more details on each course, including prices and duration.
